Austin Cho Selected to Water Leaders Class of 2022

February 4, 2022

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that Austin Cho, a senior associate in the firm’s water law practice, has been selected to join the Water Education Foundation’s 2022 Water Leaders Class.

Water Leaders is a highly competitive and respected career development program that draws applicants from various public and private entities and non-governmental organizations from throughout the state looking to broaden their knowledge of and leadership in California’s water community. This year’s 20-member class includes lawyers, engineers, scientists, and other resource specialists. You can view the roster for the 2022 class here.

“It’s an honor to have been selected for the program,” said Austin. “I am eager to get to know my cohort, build upon my professional network, and learn all that I can along the way.”

Since 1997, the William R. Gianelli Water Leaders program has brought together up-and-coming community leaders to tackle some of California’s most pressing water issues. Commemorating the program’s 25th anniversary, this year’s class has the monumental task of evaluating the Bay-Delta Water Quality Control Plan – from the developing regulations to efforts to obtain voluntary agreements – and recommending solutions for how California can move forward.

More than 400 water professionals have graduated from the program, including Downey Brand water law partners Rebecca Smith (class of 2018) and David Cameron (class of 2021). To learn more about the Water Leaders program, please visit the program’s website.
