Downey Brand Attorneys Recognized for their Pro Bono Work in the Camp Fire Disaster Relief and Recovery Effort
October 18, 2019
Downey Brand is pleased to announce that the firm and attorneys Leila Bruderer, David Cameron, David Fox, and Natalie Kirkish have been recognized by the Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) for its pro bono support involving the residents of Butte County following the devastating 2018 Camp Fire.
Downey Brand attorneys Bruderer, Cameron, Fox, and Kirkish joined LSNC and other pro bono attorneys and law students at the Chico Disaster Recovery Center to help pro bono clients make sense of complex insurance recovery issues and obtain essential coverage for the massive losses caused by the fire, including one case where the client’s insurance company became insolvent after the fire.
“We could not have served more than 1,200 people at the Disaster Recovery Center or opened more than 400 cases, many of which are still ongoing, without the generous pro bono support of Downey Brand and others in the community,” said a representative from LSNC.
Downey Brand was presented with the award during LSNC’s October volunteer recognition event at Urban Roots Brewery in Sacramento.
Downey Brand has a long tradition of public service that includes a robust pro bono program. With over 90 attorneys serving clients throughout the region and beyond, Downey Brand’s attorneys devote time to issues and causes that are important to them and to the community as a whole.
