Downey Brand Welcomes Attorneys Avalon Fitzgerald and Kristin Capritto

Downey Brand is pleased to welcome Avalon Fitzgerald, an associate in the firm’s litigation practice, and Kristin Capritto, a new associate in the firm’s trusts and estates practice.
Avalon Fitzgerald returns to Downey Brand following a year-long clerkship with Judge Consuelo M. Callahan of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, where she honed her federal litigation and analytical skills. Avalon represents clients in a range of matters from business and contract disputes to complex class actions in both state and federal courts, at the trial and appellate levels.
Avalon earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2012 from Boston University School of Law after attaining her B.A. from University of California, Berkeley in 2008. Raised in Sacramento, Avalon serves on the Law & Public Policy Academy’s Advisory Committee for C.K. McClatchy High School and is the President of the Sacramento Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Kristin Capritto assists families and individuals in all aspects of estate planning, trust administration, probate, and tax. She regularly counsels clients on for-profit and non-profit business planning matters, including entity formation, management, and succession planning. Kristin is a trained mediator and negotiator, and holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution.
Kristin graduated from California State University, Chico in 2003 with a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor in 2014 from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. Kristin is deeply involved with the New School Rule, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing educational opportunities for girls and young women in developing nations.
