Rebecca Smith Joins Board of Directors at Water Education Foundation

Downey Brand is pleased to announce that water law counsel Rebecca Smith has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Water Education Foundation. Rebecca joins the Board of Directors as the representative from the William R. Gianelli Water Leaders Class, of which she was a member in 2018.
The Water Education Foundation is an impartial nonprofit organization that is governed by a volunteer board of 33 members representing a broad cross-section of water, education, business, environmental, and public interest communities. The Foundation’s mission is to create a better understanding of water resources and foster public understanding and resolution of water resource issues through facilitation, education, and outreach.
Rebecca’s distinctive expertise includes water rights, agricultural law, water supply, CEQA compliance, SGMA, and groundwater issues. With that expertise, she partners with both public and private sector clients to address opportunities and challenges related to California’s complex water laws. Rebecca earned her Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School in 2010 and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Davis in 2006. She has been appointed to a three year term on the Foundation’s Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2019.
